6 Summer Fashion Picks for NP’s and PA’s

Whether you wear scrubs or “regular” clothes to work, the workplace wardrobe can get pretty monotonous.  Typically, I end up with one of everything- pants, shoes, sweaters and blouses, in black, brown and grey.  Regardless of the season, I can look pretty drab at work.  Who wants to waste money on clothes for the clinic?

Fortunately, there are still a few months left of warm weather.  Meanwhile, summer clothes are on sale making now the perfect time to brighten up your workplace duds.  Here are a few cost effective items that can liven up your wardrobe:

Block Brightly Colored Scrub Tops and Bottoms

If you wear scrubs to work, you probably have little seasonal distinction in your dress.  Why not try to brighten it up the last few weeks of summer?  Blue Sky Co. offers an array of sun-shiny colors.  My favorite way to wear them is with a darker color on the bottom and a lighter shade of the same hue on top.  From the Blue Sky line try Sun-Kissed Scarlet on bottom paired with a Zoe Emberglow top.

Sass Up Your Standard Clog

The bulkiness of medical clogs certainly doesn’t scream “Summer” but fortunately, some manufacturers have added some warm weather flare to their traditional clog lines.  The Dansko Perfed Sonja Clog in white comes with a wooded sole and an airy feel almost passing for those espadrilles you wear out on saturday nights.  Dansko’s Jute Pro Clog features an array of bright, beachy colors bringing a bit of light to your otherwise monotonous workwear.

Colorful Cropped Trouser

Non-scrub wearers have the freedom of taking it further with their workplace fashion.  For these NP’s and PA’s, a pair of colorful cropped trousers is the perfect addition to make to the summer work wardrobe.  Wearable at the clinic as well as out to dinner, these trendy pants lend themselves to nearly any function.

Anything Striped

Tired of your typical solid colored work attire?  Glam up your outfit with something striped.  Be it a cardigan or blouse, stripes provide a work appropriate level of pattern.

Statement Necklace

Chunky and fabulous, statement necklaces add a touch of bling to any outfit.  Smaller statement necklaces (or earrings) may even be paired with scrubs if your feeling the need for fashion.  Choose among the medium to small sized necklaces as larger jewelry may be a bit too much for wearing on-the-job.

Bright Blazers

Nothing says professional like a blazer.  So, why not dress it up by adding a touch of summertime color?  A vibrant blazer will serve you well both at work and on the weekend making it the perfect pick on your next shopping spree.  Hint- purchase a matching statement necklace and blazer for a killer outfit.
